Seeds of Strength Building Skills, Livelihoods, and Resilience in Khanke

In Khanke and surrounding areas, many Yezidi women and girls continue to face significant barriers to education, employment, and economic independence after years of displacement. Limited job opportunities, social constraints, and reduced humanitarian funding have further deepened these challenges, especially for female-led households where women shoulder dual responsibilities, balancing income generation with primary caregiving roles.

In response, FYF is implementing a comprehensive project designed to support women and children through an integrated approach to livelihoods, education, and psychosocial well-being.

This initiative provides training in baking and crafts, alongside English and Arabic language courses, digital literacy, and financial literacy. By combining practical skills with education, the project aims to strengthen participants’ ability to generate income, improve employability, and build long-term resilience.

Beyond training, participants also benefit from holistic support services, including psychosocial and community-based activities that restore and strengthen individual well-being as well as social cohesion—key pillars of recovery for the Yezidi community.

This project is funded by the State of Baden-Württemberg through Stiftung Entwicklungs-Zusammenarbeit Baden-Württemberg (SEZ)
