Sugar is Sweet

The Sweet Success of Yezidi Women
at Sugar is Sweet Bakery and Cafe

Since 2014, FYF has been responding to the acute protection needs of Yezidi survivors, IDPs, and marginalized women.

The Sugar is Sweet Bakery and Cafe, an initiative of the Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF), stands proudly adjacent to FYF’s Enterprise and Training Center in Khanke, Duhok. Distinctive in its mission, Sugar is Sweet is entirely managed by resilient Yezidi women who have successfully completed FYF’s bakery and training program, transitioning from learners to valued employees.

Supporting Sustainability!

Beyond offering a delightful culinary experience, Sugar is Sweet serves a greater purpose – every penny earned contributes directly to the sustenance of the bakery and cafe, funding essential supplies, maintenance, and the dedicated staff.

In supporting Sugar is Sweet, patrons actively participate in empowering Yezidi women by providing them with sustainable livelihoods. The initiative not only tantalizes taste buds but also fosters a sense of community and empowerment, making every visit a meaningful and delicious experience.

Through my work at FYF’s Sugar is Sweet bakery and cafe, I feel supported by the staff and my mental wellbeing is now good.
