Raising Yezidi Voices at The Windsor Dialogue 2026

FYF Country Director Hewan Omer recently participated in The Windsor Dialogue 2026, an annual dialogue on religious freedom held in the UK, which this year focused on Keeping the Faith: Finding Lessons on Diaspora Sustainability.

The dialogue, which originally began with a focus on the Yezidi people following the genocide, brought together voices from different religious and minority communities to discuss persecution, displacement, and the challenges of preserving identity across generations. The event was attended by representatives of religious and minority communities, academics, and representatives of the Iraqi Embassy and other institutions, providing an important platform for dialogue and connection.

Hewan spoke about the challenges facing the Yezidi people and the role of the diaspora in sustaining Yezidi identity. She highlighted the continued displacement and insecurity faced by Yezidis, the need for stronger state recognition, concrete actions, and equal rights, as well as the importance of preserving Yezidi identity for future generations.

At FYF, we remain committed to raising Yezidi voices and advocating for justice, equality, safety, and dignity for all Yezidis.
