Meet our Justice Officer, Suna Haji Ali

This week on FYF’s “Meet Our Female Leaders” series, we are spotlighting our Justice Officer, Suna Haji Ali.

“There are many reasons I was inspired to work at the Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF). One of them was seeing that since FYF was founded, all FYF staff have been working together and trying their best to amplify the voices of Yezidis and marginalized women for the international community to hear.

A second reason is their ongoing support for survivors. FYF has not stopped providing support to women and girls through MHPSS, job opportunities, educational courses, advocacy work, and, most importantly, helping survivors access justice. My work helped me discover the hidden power that I have, but did not realize was there. FYF showed me the path to finding that power to support Yezidi women. So, I want to give a special thanks to this amazing foundation that supported not only me, but also hundreds of Yezidi women.

The third thing for me is that I felt I scored the bullseye when I joined FYF because it was my dream to work in the field of law. FYF’s justice work has made me realize that if you want to achieve something in life, you should not stop trying. Believe in your instincts and they will lead you to where you belong. FYF gave me the chance to make my dream come true.”

Support our work!

FYF works to support the most vulnerable members of the Yezidi community by providing them with education, economic empowerment, post-trauma treatment, and access to justice. If you want your donations to have a real impact on the lives of women and children affected by conflict, please consider giving to FYF today.
