Meet FYF’s Country Director, Hewan Omer

“What truly resonates with me is that FYF prioritizes and emphasizes empowering its staff by providing a healthy work environment and opportunities to grow into leadership roles to enact change. I have always thrived in a safe work environment that encourages, empowers, supports, and listens to its employees. At FYF, I have found that environment. Being a part of an organization that shares my values and work ethics and actively contributes to a better future is incredibly motivating for me.

 

I am genuinely excited about the impact FYF is having on the Yezidi community, particularly women. FYF’s achievements, such as developing women’s skills and empowering them to step into leadership positions, is not something I have seen before. It’s inspiring to witness positive change for women in the community, especially after surviving a genocide. Working with a women-led organization like FYF illustrates to me every day that women can really do it all.
