UNITAD SA Christian Ritscher visits FYF’s Enterprise & Training Center (ETC)

FYF was grateful to host Special Adviser and Head of UNITAD Mr. Christian Ritscher at FYF Enterprise & Training Center (ETC). It is critical that the UN, foreign governments, and international organisations take time to see how the displaced Yezidi community lives and tries to rebuild.

The UNITAD office is designed for justice and accountability in response to the Yezidi Genocide and other ISIS/Daesh crimes in Iraq , so we were grateful for our justice team to discuss our efforts to build crime scene analyses through coordination.

At the same time, it is important that key actors such as UNITAD take time to meet the community, speak with individuals, and see efforts to improve daily life for survivors, especially through YEZIDI-led business, training, and enterprise when possible.

These business and training efforts have two effects. First, these community-led initiatives help to rebuild the spirit and hope for the surviving community, which has been displaced for many years. Second, it provides income and skills for Yezidi for future success.

Our doors are open to everyone, including Iraqi and Kurdish nationals and international guests, who support Yezidi recovery. All are welcome to the ETC where we have the Bakery Traning Center that houses the Sugar is Sweet Bakery & Cafe and the Crafts & Enterprise Center where people can browse hand-made products made by Yezidi women survivors of genocide..

Support our work!

FYF works to support the most vulnerable members of the Yezidi community by providing them with education, economic empowerment, post-trauma treatment, and access to justice. If you want your donations to have a real impact on the lives of women and children affected by conflict, please consider giving to FYF today.
