Sandy Kooistra

Sandy Kooistra brings over ten years of experience in programming and operations across diverse contexts. Before joining FYF, she deployed with Médecins Sans Frontières to Chad, Pakistan, Syria, and Ukraine, supporting medical programs for women, children, and conflict-affected populations. She also worked with the Canadian Red Cross, managing field hospitals and vaccination modules during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of Sandy's most impactful projects was helping launch Canada’s first national 24/7 human trafficking hotline, providing essential support to victims of sex and labor trafficking. She began her career in South Sudan, working on water and food security projects in rural villages. Sandy holds a degree in International Development and Globalization Studies from Trent University in Canada. At FYF, Sandy manages the operations team, overseeing HR and procurement processes and ensuring alignment with the organization’s policies and procedures.
