Khalida Shamo
Psychologist
Khalida is a dedicated psychologist and humanitarian aid worker with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Zakho. Since 2015, she has been actively engaged as a psychologist, case manager, and advocate, dedicating her efforts to raising awareness of rights and providing support specifically tailored to Yezidi female survivors and children. Her commitment to women’s rights is evident in her passionate advocacy for justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, as well as her tireless efforts to secure recognition of the Yezidi genocide. Khalida joined the Free Yezidi Foundation, where she aims to further contribute to the pursuit of justice and provide crucial psychological support to survivors within her community and other affected communities in Iraq. Her dedication and expertise are invaluable assets in fostering healing and resilience among those who have experienced profound trauma.
