Spotlight on Advocacy: FYF Country Director at Villanova University
Last week, FYF’s Country Director delivered two powerful guest lectures to Villanova University students.
November 18th: She spoke on the Yezidi Genocide of August 3, 2014, recounting the horrors of mass killings, forced displacement, sexual slavery, and the destruction of religious sites. Despite the passage of 10 years, the genocide is ongoing, with approximately 2,600 Yezidi women and children still missing and many families still living in displacement. Justice and accountability remain elusive, and ongoing trauma and hate speech threaten the community’s stability.
November 20th: She shared FYF’s mission as a response to the genocide—supporting the rebuilding of the Yezidi community, with a focus on women, children, and survivors. Through trauma treatment, education, livelihoods, justice, and advocacy, FYF is making a tangible impact. But the work is far from over. International support is critical to heal the wounds of the past and build a future of hope.
Together, we can stand in solidarity with the Yezidi community and ensure their voices are heard.
