FYF raises emergency medical funds for three-year old Yezidi child

The Free Yezidi Foundation worked with Yezidi activist Murad Ismael to raise funds for three-year old Maria, who is suffering from a tumor in her neck. Unfortunately, medical treatment could not be safely conducted in Iraq or the Kurdistan Region, leaving Maria’s parents desperate for funding to seek surgery abroad.

FYF helped to crowdfund a first disbursement of $2,731, which was delivered in late September. This was a helpful start, but short of the $17,000 needed to cover travel and medical expenses. A second disbursement of $15,884 was delivered on 20 October.

Maria. three-year old Yezidi child.

This reached Maria’s fundraising goal, and the funds have now been collected by her family. We wish Maria safe travels and a swift recovery from her forthcoming medical procedure.

We would like to warmly thank all of the generous individual donors who helped to support this life-saving medical treatment for Maria. Like many other Yezidis, Maria’s family members survived the Yezidi Genocide but were left destitute and homeless in the aftermath. Maria’s medical treatment would not have been possible without your generous support.
