Ms. Omar explained that while Yezidis expected other communities in Iraq to show more solidarity and sympathy with Yezidis, she remains concerned that discrimination against Yezidis remains prevalent. Further, she highlighted the danger facing Yezidis in Sinjar due to ISIS ideology that continues to affect many community members in areas close to Sinjar. She further lamented the fact that so many Iraqi citizens participated in ISIS crimes or contributed to their atrocities and have been able to escape justice and live in Iraq with impunity, pointing out the failure of the Iraqi state to hold trials specifically for crimes committed against Yezidis. Ms. Omer also expressed concern for the more than 2500 missing Yezidis.
