FYF Meets with US Consulate Officials about Human Rights

Today FYF Country Director Hewan Omer met with US Consulate human rights officials to discuss the challenges facing Yezidis (Yazidis) and the activities FYF is implementing now, including projects related to the pursuit of justice and accountability, support for Yezidi survivors, protection of women’s rights, combating gender-based violence, and support for education and economic growth of the Yezidi community as a whole, with a focus on women. Ms. Omer also touched on some social and cultural challenges that Yezidis face in Iraq, and the ongoing problem of discrimination against minority communities like Yezidis.
