FYF Executive Director visits ETC

Khanke, Duhok

FYF’s Executive Director Pari Ibrahim visited the Enterprise & Training Center (ETC) to speak with the Yezidi women artisans and review the products they have crafted. The quality and variety of Chonky Animals were very impressive, as well as the carpets, rugs, and blankets.

Ms. Ibrahim met with Kafia, who is designing the products and working with the artisans on a daily basis. She also met with Khalida, who is overseeing the entire ETC. FYF is very pleased with the development and expansion of these products. This is a small non-profit initiative to provide Yezidi women with basic skill in artisanal crafts but also marketing, product development, and building the understanding of small business finances so they can use these skills in their current circumstances but also if they are able to return to their areas of origin in Sinjar.

Rather than charity or humanitarian aid, this is a small business model through which Yezidi women create and market their fabulous products to earn income for themselves and their families. Ms. Ibrahim was able to spend time with ETC staff and artisans and better understand the progress and opportunities regarding this important initiative.
