Female Beneficiary of FYF’s ETC Emphasizes Positive Impact of Her Work

Mayan (name changed to protect identity) is a 27-year-old Yezidi woman who lives in Khanke IDP camp. Her living conditions in the camp are difficult, and she is constantly worried about her and her family’s safety and well-being.

Mayan is a beneficiary of FYF’s Enterprising and Training Center (ETC), where her skills in crafting handmade products have been nurtured and developed. Earning an income from selling the products she creates at the ETC helps her both financially and mentally because she relaxes and forgets about her worries when she knits.

For Mayan, mental wellbeing is really important:

“I always wanted to become a psychologist to be able to support my community.”

Mayan feels comfortable and supported by FYF staff at the ETC and hopes more women will be able to benefit from the ETC’s programming in the future.
