Personal Information that we process
By using our website and other services, you provide personal information to the Free Yezidi Foundation. Below is a list of the types of personal information that we collect:
- First and Last Name
- E-mailadress
- Other information that you give us by sending us e-mails, by communicating with us in any other way or by sending documents with personal information (like a CV) to us.
- Information related to monitoring your activity on our website for security reasons. (IP-number and Browser)
Special or sensitive personal information
Our website does not have the intention to collect information about visitors who are younger than 16 years old, unless they have permission from their parents or other caretakers to do so. However, we have no way of making sure what the age of our website’s visitors is, therefore we assume that any visitor who is younger than 16 and provides us with information via our website does so with the consent of his or her parents or caretakers. If you feel that a child under your care has been giving us information without your permission, you can contact us so we can remove the provided information from our website, databases and other storage media.
We do not collect personal information about our visitor’s health status, religion, sexual preferences, political views and other sensitive data.
Purpose of Collecting Information
We collect personal information for the following reasons:
- To send a newsletter or other type of informative e-mail.
- To be able to contact you if you have sent us an e-mail or if you have contacted us in any other way.
- To inform you of updates to our Privacy Policy and User Agreement
- To contact you in case of a data breach that can affect you.
- Free Yezidi Foundation analyses traffic to our website and monitors malicious activity to improve the functioning of our site.
Automated Decision Making
The Free Yezidi Foundation does not use software or systems that use personal information to make automated decisions.
How long we store personal information
The Free Yezidi Foundation does not store personal information any longer than is necessary for the purpose the information was collected for.
E-mailadress, name and other information provided to us by sending us an e-mail or contacting us in any other way will be stored until the communication between you and the Foundation has been completed. In case we need to keep your information stored longer on any of our computers or in other places, we will let you know and ask for your permission first.
If you have subscribed to our newsletter we will keep your e-mailadress and name stored on our computers and in our Mailchimp adress book until you choose to unsubscribe.
If you have engaged in malicious activity on our website, your ip-number will be used to block you indefinately from using our website again. If you feel that you have been blocked from using our website unjustly, you can send us an e-mail and explain why you think this was done in error. We will then decide within 4 weeks whether we will restore your access to our website or not, after which we will remove your ip-number from our website and/or computers. The same thing applies if you send us spam or other kinds of unwanted e-mails. See our User Agreement for more information about this.
Sharing of Personal Information with Third Parties
The Free Yezidi Foundation shares your information with a number of third parties because it is necessary for a proper functioning of our website and to comply with the laws of the countries we operate in. To ensure the same level of security and confidentiality that we use to handle your personal information, we have enterend into a Data Processing Agreement with companies that process information on our behalf.
Our website is hosted by STRATO A.G. Berlin, which keeps your personal ip-number stored for 7 days on their servers for security reasons, after you have visited our website and they also analyse traffic to our website. All the data that is processed and stored on our website is stored and processed on their servers.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your name and e-mailadress will be stored by Mailchimp, a service we use to send our newsletters and to keep track of our subscribers. Their Privacy Policy can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
If you donate to us using the PayPal link on our website, the information that is required for the financial transaction will be collected and stored only by PayPal. Information about your credit-card and/or bank account number is not stored on our computers or in the website’s database. Both PayPal and Global Giving have indicated to us that they will abide by the new EU GDPR (European General Data Protection Regulation) rules, even though their headquarters are not established inside the EU.
Cookies
Because we have yet to find a good solution which allows visitors of our website to turn cookies and and off, depending on their preferences, as is required by the new EU GDPR laws, we have decided to turn off all cookies on our website for now.
The result of this is that we had to remove all shared connections with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, even though we are active on those platforms. When we have found a solution to integrate these platforms on our website without breaking EU GDPR cookie laws, we will update our Privacy Policy and send out a mailing detailing these changes and we will also inform visitors of our website.
Data Access, Data Rectification and the Right to be Forgotten
You as a visitor of our website have the right to see all the personal information we have collected, to correct that information and to remove it completely. You also have the right to withdraw your permission for us, the Free Yezidi Foundation, to process your personal information, at any time. Finally, you also have the right to ask us to send you or an organisation that is acting on your behalf a file which contains a list of all the personal information we have stored on our computers, website and other storage media.
If you want to excercise any of these rights, you can send an e-mail to info@freeyezidi.org and we will provide you with the requested information within 4 weeks after your e-mail has been received by us (we will send you a confirmation shortly after we have received it). However, to make sure that you are indeed who you say you are, we need you to attach an image of your passport or id-card to your e-mail. We advise you to make the MRZ (machine readable zone), passport-number and other information that is not required to identify the passport’s owner invisible on the image that you send us.
How we keep personal information secure
The Free Yezidi Foundation takes the protection of your personal information very seriously. That’s why we are using a host of security measures, like updated anti-virus software and firewalls, a SSL certificate which encrypts information sent via our website and software which scans our website for malicious activity continuously. We do this to so your personal information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands and prevent other ways it could be abused. If you are under the impression that the personal information we store and process is not secure or if it appears there’s a case of abuse, please let us now as soon as possible by sending an e-mail to info@freeyezidi.org .
If there is a data breach which could endanger the personal information we have of you, we will let you know as soon as possible, within 72 hours.
