FYF Executive Director participates in IRF Summit in Washington
FYF Executive Director Pari Ibrahim participated in two events at the IRF Summit in Washington this year. She was a featured speaker at a side event entitled, “Syria at a Crossroads: Plotting a Path Away from Violence Toward a Peaceful, Inclusive Syria.” Pari conveyed the views of the Yezidi community, deep-seated fears of extremist leadership in Syria, and the ongoing violence in Northeast Syria. Her comments received repeated applause from the audience.
Pari was also invited to speak at the closing event of the IRF Summit on Capitol Hill, entitled, “In Solidarity with the Persecuted”, hosted by IRF co-chairs Sam Brownback and Katrina Lantos-Swett. She provided a written statement reflecting the suffering of Yezidis, which was read by another community member, and she read the statement provided to her about the Druze community in Syria. The event takes place every year to bring together representatives of communities that suffer religious-based persecution.
