Who We Are

The Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF) is a humanitarian, apolitical, women-led non-profit organization formally registered in the Netherlands and the United States and registered to operate in Iraq. The Foundation was established shortly after ISIS attempted to eradicate the Yezidi people in August 2014. The Free Yezidi Foundation seeks to implement projects to protect and support the most vulnerable members of the Yezidi community.

FYF is virtually headquartered in the Netherlands and the United States, with its operational base in Duhok, Iraq. The Foundation is particularly engaged with services for Yezidi survivors, with a special focus on Yezidi women and children. FYF also works to assist all Yezidis in seeking justice and accountability.

Background

FYF provides humanitarian services for Yezidi survivors and for Yezidi women and children, with a special focus on trauma recovery and psychological services, economic empowerment, community reintegration, and education. The Free Yezidi Foundation pursues justice and accountability on behalf of Yezidis affected by ISIS crimes. FYF advances international awareness of the plight of the Yezidis and how to ethically address their concerns, playing an important role in promoting better and broader humanitarian and human rights support to the Yezidis, including the rights of women and girls within the Yezidis community.

Job Summary

FYF cleaner must ensure the cleaning of the FYF Shekhan Office for the duration of the project. Cleaner will ideally have a strong background in cleaning roles, with 2+ years of experience, especially in the humanitarian context (non-governmental organizations).

The cleaners will be integral in daily activity, interacting regularly with staff members, visitors, and beneficiaries. The location will be the Shekhan Office. This is a full-time position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform several functions:

  • Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, corridors, and other work areas.
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to the disposal area.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors using a broom and mops.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
  • Prepare rooms for class meetings and arrange decorations, equipment, and furniture for business functions.
  • Wash dishes and clean kitchen, cooking utensils, and silverware.
  • Make sure soap is available in/out premises such as toilet and kitchen.

Qualifications

  • High Schools Degree preferable.
  • At least two years of experience in cleaning roles.
  • Previous experience with international or local NGOs.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and humanitarian values.
  • Proven ability to calmly, professionally, and successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and is comfortable working in a group, as well as independently.

Upon Joining FYF

FYF has non-disclosure and liability waiver clauses in the contract for all employers upon joining the team. All paperwork and related documents will be managed between the time that the job offer is sent and the incumbent begins work, including agreeing to the FYF code of conduct.
