FYF Hosts Private Event to Commemorate Yezidi Genocide

FYF commemorated the 9th anniversary of the Yezidi Genocide by hosting a private event at its Enterprise and Training Center, including staff, survivors, activists, and supporters, to amplify the voices of Yezidi survivors and activists. The event included opening remarks from FYF’s Country Director, Hewan Omer, a panel discussion on justice and accountability, emphasizing the need to hold ISIS perpetrators accountable and search for those still missing, and a panel discussion on the challenges and demands of survivors nine years after the genocide, including ongoing displacement and lack of support services. The event was community-led and survivor-centered to respect the safety and wellbeing of all those in attendance.
