FYF is extremely concerned with the escalating conflict in Sinjar. Although there are many different militias and politically-affiliated parties, there must not be any attacks or targeting of Yezidis, the native of inhabitants of Sinjar, in that area at any time. This violates the basic responsibility that Iraq holds to protect its citizens.
In the days that followed the conflict, as of 5 May, 1711 families were displaced – 10,261 individuals. Many returned to IDP camps.
